Just days from the third anniversary of the “Miracle on the Hudson,” a group is warning that LaGuardia travelers could soon be in constant danger.

In a now world famous incident, Captain Chesley Sullenberger safely landed Flight 1549 on the Hudson River after it was struck by a flock of birds soon after leaving LaGuardia.

Now a coalition of flight experts and former government officials says a garbage transfer station that is proposed less than half a mile from LaGuardia is a recipe for countless more incidents.

They say the garbage will attract a huge bird population, and they're calling on Mayor Michael Bloomberg to put the station somewhere else.

"There's no better time than now to focus on the foolishness of the mayor's decision to locate a waste facility at the end of LaGuardia airport, which will endanger the lives of families like mine that want to fly into New York as well as the residents on the ground in the Queens area," said Jim Hall, former chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board.

The Federal Aviation Administration has already approved the station.

The U.S. Court of Appeals is now hearing arguments against that decision.
