A bill that would have allowed livery cabs to pick up street hails outside of Manhattan is now off the table.
Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver made the decision during a closed door conference.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg was among those who supported the bill, which would have given away 30,000 permits for livery street hails.
Governor Andrew Cuomo called the bill complicated and said he wanted a more balanced approach that respects the taxi medallion franchise.
