Police are investigating after a nursing home resident in Queens fell down a staircase to his death this weekend.
It happened Sunday morning at the Margaret Tietz Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jamaica.
Officials say the victim was in a wheelchair when he fell down the flight of stairs.
One man whose wife lives in the nursing home tells NY1 that the doors that lead to the staircases are supposed to be locked.
He says they may have been left open since only employees have a passcode to open the doors.
However, police say they don't suspect any criminality and believe it was an accident.
The nursing home says it has begun an internal review.
