MTA Plans For Halloween Service Disruptions

Metropolitan Transportation Authority officials said Sunday that buses in three city neighborhoods could see service disruptions tomorrow due to Halloween vandals.
MTA officials said portions of the routes taken by the Bx8 in Edgewater Park, the Bx24 in Country Club, and the B31 in Gerritsen Beach could be skipped depending on the behavior of those out celebrating the holiday.
Lines in those areas have been shut down before because of vandalism.
An MTA spokesman said the authority will work with the New York City Police Department to determine what action needs to be taken.
Those on foot in Manhattan for the Village Halloween Parade may be spooked for a different reason entirely, as artists will lead the 39th annual march with a cloud of floating eyes in honor of the year's "I of the Beholder" theme.
The parade kicks off at 7 p.m. and runs up Sixth Avenue from Spring Street to 16th Street.
Organizers say the Halloween parade is the largest celebration of its kind in the world.
Interested parties are asked to line up on Sixth Avenue south of Spring Street and north of Canal between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m.
