Chinese community groups and local politicians are demanding answers from the Army about the death of a Manhattan soldier in Afghanistan.

U.S. Army Private Danny Chen, 19, was found dead in his living quarters from what his family says were non-combat related wounds.

Speaking in Chinatown on Monday, Chen's family and elected officials said Chen may have been subjected to racial taunts and hazing in the days leading up to his death.

"We demand a thorough, swift investigation," said Manhattan-Brooklyn-Queens Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez.

"I have other friends that's in the army, and I fear for their lives now because I don't know if they're going to end up like Danny," said one local.

Army officials say it is continuing with a thorough investigation into how Chen died.
