A woman was hospitalized after a man grabbed her at knifepoint in Springfield Gardens, Queens early Sunday.
The attempted assault happened around 1:30 a.m. on 145th Road near the Belt Parkway.
Police said the woman was walking home when the perpetrator approached her from behind, threw her to the ground and tried to sexually assault her.
The man ran off when the woman screamed for help.
City fire officials said the woman was treated for cuts to her face.
Neighbors said they were concerned.
"At night, it's so dark, everything's closed, all the churches are closed. It's only like, one, two houses here. On my block there's only three houses, and down this way there's only a building that's abandoned," said a local. "So, it's not a good look out around here at night."
Investigators say the suspect is slim, in his 30s and was wearing all-black clothing.
