Police say an alleged gang member is being charged in connection with the shooting of an off-duty police officer this week.

Eric Greenidge, 18, is charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

Police say he was picked up earlier this week and is being held on $50,000 bond.

Investigators say the officer was wounded in the arm while pulling into a McDonald's parking lot in East New York on Monday.

Police Commissioner Ray Kelly says two groups were firing at each other and the officer -- who was not the intended target -- got hit with a stray bullet.

She was able to driver herself to a relative's home, before receiving treatment at the hospital.
