Police are investigating a deadly stabbing of a 16-year-old girl that took place early Sunday in Ocean Hill, Brooklyn.

Police sources say Kyanna Thomas called 911 around 3 a.m. Sunday to say she had been stabbed.

Officers responded to the corner of MacDougal Street and Saratoga Avenue and found Kyanna had been stabbed in the neck.

Emergency medical technicians took Kyanna to Interfaith Hospital, where she later died.

Her family was still trying to figure out why the stabbing took place.

"She left the house some time, they don't know what time, and next thing they heard was that she was hurt," said Ken Thomas, Kyanna's grandfather. "And by the time we got to the hospital, she was gone. Somebody stabbed her in the neck."

Kyanna's grandfather said she had dreams of becoming a veterinarian.

Community activists are calling on anyone with information to come forward.

"They need to call Crime Stoppers. Make that phone call. It can be anonymous, they don't have to leave their name," said community leader Tony Herbert. "Just send the information in, or call the detective squad at the 73rd precinct and say, 'Hey look, I've got a little bit of information, I don't want to leave my name,' and hang up. That's all they need to do."

Anyone with information on the case should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
