The Metropolitan Transportation Authority launched an online map called "The Weekender" Friday to help commuters navigate weekend subway changes.

The MTA map is modeled on the 1970s-style subway map by Massimo Vignelli, although some of the colors and routes have been changed.

It will be updated and customized for weekend commutes, reflecting the many changes throughout the system.

The map is searchable by line, borough and station, and blinking lights will indicate major changes.

Straphangers can put the new map to good use this weekend, as planned service changes will affect 16 subway lines.

Of note, C trains will not be running between Manhattan and Brooklyn, there will be no service on the A line between Howard Beach and Far Rockaway in Queens, no shuttle to Broad Channel, and L train riders will not have service between Eighth Avenue and Broadway Junction.

The Weekender is featured on mta.info from Friday afternoon through early Monday morning.
