The hotel maid who accused Dominique Strauss-Kahn of sexually assaulting her filed a lawsuit against the former International Monetary Fund chief Monday.
Nafissatou Diallo filed a civil lawsuit in Bronx State Supreme Court.
She is seeking unspecified damages.
Kenneth Thompson, her attorney, said she wants to make sure Strauss-Kahn is held accountable.
"As a result of the sexual assault committed against her by Dominique Strauss-Kahn, Ms. Diallo's life and the life of her young daughter are in shambles," said Thompson. "And she hopes that by filing this lawsuit, she can begin the process of putting her life back together again."
The suit states that Diallo is having a hard time recovering from the incident.
Diallo went public with her story after questions surfaced about her credibility.
Strauss-Kahn pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted rape following his arrest.
