The father of the man who admitted to plotting a bomb attack on the city's subway system was found guilty this afternoon of trying to cover up his son's actions.
Mohammed Wali Zazi was convicted by a Brooklyn jury on one count of obstruction of justice and one count of conspiracy.
He faces a maximum of 40 years in prison when he is sentenced in December.
Prosecutors argued he hid evidence and lied to investigators about his son Najibullah's failed terrorist plot.
Zazi's nephew took the stand earlier this week as a government witness saying his uncle told him to "take care of the chemicals" after learning the FBI was on to the plot.
Defense lawyers for the elder Zazi, who lives in Colorado, say his imperfect grasp of English caused "miscommunications" with his relatives and with prosecutors.
Najibullah Zazi pleaded guilty last year to supporting al-Qaeda and conspiring to use a weapon of mass destruction.
