The upcoming season for the New York City Opera will be announced on Tuesday, but the organization already faces criticism over financial issues and a planned move from Lincoln Center.

The New York Times reports that a performance of Mozart’s "Così Fan Tutte" will be held at John Jay College. Verdi’s "La Traviata" is headed to the Brooklyn Academy of Music and an unnamed Telemann opera will be at el Museo del Barrio.

The American Guild of Musical Artists, representing the opera singers, issued NY1 a scathing statement saying that the longer City Opera takes to announce the schedule, the fewer people will come, adding, "for all intents and purposes, City Opera is dead."

It also said that the foot traffic at Lincoln Center is the key to the opera's success and that the organization will picket every place the opera tries to perform.

New York City Opera has not released a comment on the story.
