The city is gearing up for a potential flood of requests for new marriage licenses.
Starting Tuesday, same-sex couples can pre-apply online only, not in person.
The licenses will not be issued until Monday, July 25, since the new law takes effect the day before.
City officials say they will look at the number of early requests to figure out what their staffing needs will be in the first days of the process.
The city's tourism website, at nycgo.com, has a list of frequently asked questions in place for LGBT couples wanting to wed in New York.
