Mayor Michael Bloomberg is encouraging New Yorkers to stay fit by making the entire city their gym.

It is part of a health and fitness campaign that aims to keep New Yorkers moving by highlighting all the free and low-cost fitness activities the city has to offer.

Bloomberg said it has never been easier or cheaper to stay in shape.

"You don't have to join a gym to be physically active. Instead, make NYC your gym by taking advantage of everyday opportunities to increase physical activity," said the mayor on 1010 WINS. "Take advantage of our many playing fields, basketball and tennis courts and other athletic facilities."

The celebration of fitness kicks off Monday with organized activities being held every day this week in each borough.
