Another gun buyback program was held Saturday in the Bronx.
Handguns were being accepted at three locations in exchange for a $200 bank card, no questions asked.
There was no limit to how many guns could be turned in, but people taking part were only paid for three.
Rifles and shotguns could also be redeemed for $20 cards.
Buyback locations included the Grace Temple on Marion Avenue, the Bronx Pentecostal Church on Watson Avenue, and Our Lady of Grace Church on Bronxwood Avenue.
"It's always an encouraging thing to know our community is being rid of guns, dangerous guns that take the lives of the young men and the people in the community. So we are very passionate about it. We are happy that it's happening, and we pray that it is successful," said Grace Temple Pastor Olusegun Apoeso.
"We were in three churches today. People are much more comfortable coming into churches with a gun than they would be in a police station. We understand that. So we're going to continue the program," said Police Commissioner Ray Kelly.
The New York City Police Department says about 7,000 guns have been turned in across the city since the program began in 2008.
