An Upper West Side middle school student is recovering after allegedly being stabbed by another student Thursday afternoon.
Department of Education officials say the two were outside the West Prep Middle School playing basketball when they got into a shoving match.
The 12-year-old student allegedly pulled a knife and threw it at the other student.
The victim was stabbed right above the knee and taken to the hospital.
Police were talking with the other student Thursday.
