The second city teacher in as many days has allegedly assaulted a student.

Gary Smith, 60, who teaches special education at P.S. 92 in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens, Brooklyn, was arrested Thursday and charged with assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and harassment.

The 10-year-old boy he is accused of attacking was taken to the hospital with a minor neck injury.

One parent of a P.S. 92 student said she could not imagine such an incident had happened at her child's school.

"I'm really surprised that something like that would happen because my son goes to that school and they are so good to him," she said. "My son has ADD, he's extremely hyper, and they work with him so good, a lot of love and everything. I'm really surprised to see something like that could happen."

Smith has been reassigned to a position outside the classroom.

On Wednesday, a similar case involving a teacher was reported at P.S. 46 in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn.
