Mayor Michael Bloomberg's approval rating is at its lowest point in eight years.

According to a newly released Quinnipiac University poll, 51 percent of New Yorkers disapprove of the job he's doing. About 39 percent of those polled approve of his performance.

That's the worst rating Bloomberg has received since November 2003.

The director of the school’s polling institute believes the numbers may reflect the complacency that politicians often show in their third terms.

In addition, 69 percent of respondents say they were unhappy with how his administration handled snow removal this winter.

Bloomberg had been criticized for being out of town before the Christmas blizzard.

While 72 percent of those polled believe it is the mayor's own business where he spends his weekends, they do say he should be responsible for saying who is in charge while he is away.

The poll was conducted over the phone between March 8-14, with a margin of error of +/- 2.9 percentage points.
