Maksim Gelman, 23, is also facing two charges of attempted murder in the second degree, two counts of first-degree robbery, two counts of second-degree robbery and three charges of second-degree assault.

He could serve up to 175 years in prison if convicted on all counts.

Gelman was not present in court and was held without bail on Friday.

Investigators say Gelman killed four people over a 28-hour period last weekend.

According to authorities, Gelman fatally stabbed his former love interest, Yelena Bulchenko, and her mother Anna, and his stepfather, Aleksander Kuznetsov.

Gelman later struck and killed a man while fleeing in a stolen car, while also wounding four other people during his rampage, according to police.

On February 12, Gelman was captured at the Times Square subway station shortly after he attacked a man on a number 3 train.
