After enduring weeks of freezing temperatures, New Yorkers enjoyed mild weather on Friday, but the warm-weather window was brief.
Temperatures hit the low-to-mid-60s Friday afternoon, and for the first time in 53 days, Central Park had no snow accumulation on the ground.
DUMBO residents were out running, walking their dogs and playing with their children in Brooklyn Bridge Park in the morning.
This snap in the cold came after the snowiest January since 2005.
"I'm trying to take advantage of the weather while it's nice now. It's not going to stay that way," said one New Yorker. "I don't know about another blizzard but it's going to get cold. It's still February."
"This is great. I'm overheated. I've got my hat on because I'm used to running with it on because of all the ice and snow this year," said another. "But this is like the Bahamas right now."
"It's a breath of fresh air," said a third. "It's been really challenging this winter with so many snow storms so it's nice to get the kids out."
Friday night saw a sharp drop in temperatures and a wind advisory will be in effect from 3 a.m. Saturday until midnight Sunday. Gusts of 45 to 55 mph will be likely and may even be faster.
The temperature is not expected to be above the 40s again until late next week.
