The Metropolitan of Transportation Authority says traveling on Manhattan’s east side by bus these days is significantly faster thanks to the new Select Bus Service.
The agency says Select Bus Service on the M15 line has sped up travel by up to 19 percent.
According to the MTA, the buses have cut the travel time between East Harlem and South Ferry by 12 to 16 minutes.
The M15 select route debuted back in October.
MTA officials say the faster trips are the result of riders paying their fares at sidewalk vending machines. The buses also have dedicated lanes, and cameras installed along First and Second Avenues to catch drivers using the bus-only lanes.
