One construction worker was killed and three were seriously injured Monday when a wall collapsed on a construction site in Queens.

Police officials say a one-story brick wall partially collapsed at 84-18 Queens Boulevard in Elmhurst Monday morning, trapping the workers.

The victims were transported to nearby Elmhurst Hospital, where a 26-year-old worker was pronounced dead.

The New York City Police Department says the other victims were in stable condition on Monday.

According to the Department of Buildings, a five-story building was being constructed at the site. It was in its preliminary stages and was set to feature a storefront on the bottom and residential above.

"The construction crew was working on a concrete masonry unit wall approximately 64 feet long by approximately 20 feet high when the wall collapsed," said DOB official Eugene Corcoran. "Four construction workers were trapped in the debris. Rescue operations were conducted by the New York City Fire Department."

A stop-work order was also issued.

Sources say improper work was being done at the site.
