While for many the snow means hours of shoveling, for city kids it meant a day of fun.

Dozens gathered Monday at Riverside Park to sled and play in the snow.

"It's very good, been hoping for this all winter long,” said one youngster.

"Awesome, the most we've had in years,” said another.

"It's great, almost too much snow for sledding, a lot of powder, have to pack it down but still fun,” said a third.

But it wasn’t just kids having fun. Some adults got in on the action, too.

“We love it,” said some older sledders. “We come out every year to this spot."

"Better than being at work," said another.

Snowball fights, snow angels and sledding – what a way to spend winter break. City parks declared Monday an official "Snow Day in the Park" with free hot chocolate and sledding.

"It's really fun,” said one sledder. “There is a lot of snow."
