Police believe the man behind a string of elevator robberies in the Bronx and Manhattan has struck again.
Police say the man threatened a woman with an ice pick in a Stuyvesant Town elevator Thursday afternoon before making off with her wallet and phone.
Later in the day, police say he took money and jewelry from another woman inside a building on East 14th Street.
In both cases, no injuries were reported.
"This guy is brazen, clearly undeterred by the light of day or even his own image in front of him right before he commits and attack," said City Councilman Daniel Garodnick, in reference to the fact that Stuy-Town had posted the suspect's image around the complex prior to the attack.
Authorities say there were four other incidents where the suspect entered an elevator, showed a knife or an ice pick, demanded jewelry and cash from his female victims and then took off on foot.
Three of the robberies happened in Co-op City in the Bronx.
One of the other attacks happened at a building in Peter Cooper Village – not far from where Thursdays attacks took place.
Residents say they're on high alert.
"That's terrifying. Basically I'm aware of anyone coming into my personal space, but the key is to be aware of it before they get to you," said a Stuyvesant Town resident.
"I stay on my cell phone, never walk alone, and I'm always on my phone," said another.
"Obviously don't let anyone into the building behind you," advised a third.
Police describe the man as being six feet tall, 250 pounds, in his 40s with a close-cut beard. He was last seen wearing a green jacket.
