New York City agencies are teaming up with a rap superstar to help partiers get home safely during the holidays.
The Department of Transportation, the New York City Police Department and the Taxi and Limousine Commission are partnering with rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs and Ciroc Vodka to give out more than 2,000 prepaid debit cards revelers can use to get a safe ride home this season.
It's part of the city's "You the Man" campaign, celebrating designated drivers and responsible planning.
The cards are worth $25 each, and can only be used for transportation – taxis, MTA, other transit ticketing machines, and some livery car services.
"We've got over 13,000 taxi and livery cabs that are designated drivers. We've got thousands of bus and subway conductors and drivers that are designated drivers,” said DOT Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan. “And these designated drivers are as important as mistletoe, eggnog, and snowmen. We just can't have the holidays without them."
The debit cards will be given out at three special events in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Manhattan during December.
