At long last, Spider-Man finally has spun his web on Broadway – albeit with an imperfect debut.
The long-delayed musical “Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark” played its first preview performance last night, but was stopped five times in the process.
There were four stoppages in the first act alone, including one that ended the act prematurely.
Most were due to technical issues, including performers left dangling in the air.
“Spider-Man” has already run up expenses of $65 million, twice the previous Broadway record held by “Shrek, the Musical.”
It's almost a year behind the original preview opening set for this past January.
“Spider-Man” will continue with preview audiences for over a month. It's scheduled to officially open on January 11th.
