A little boy was killed and his mother injured Thursday after both were struck by a city bus in Brooklyn.
Police say they believe Evan Svirsky, 4, ran into the street in Manhattan Beach and his 45-year-old mother ran after him in an attempt to save him.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority says they were hit by a B49 bus at Oriental Boulevard and Falmouth Street.
The boy was pronounced dead at Coney Island Hospital.
The mother was struck by the side view mirror of the bus.
She is said to be in critical but stable condition.
Police say the driver remained at the scene and there is no criminality at this time.
