Mets closer Francisco "K-Rod" Rodriguez made a brief court appearance today over charges of his beating up his girlfriend's father at Citi Field, and the defense says the baseball player is in plea talks and anger management classes.
Rodriguez, 28, is accused of assaulting 53-year-old Carlos Pena after a game at Citi Field on August 11.
The Mets player is also charged with violating a restraining order by sending text messages to his girlfriend, Daian Pena.
The Queens district attorney's office has not confirmed the claims by Rodriguez's attorney.
Rodriguez is due back in court on November 10.
