The New York City Police Department says the two men found dead inside an SUV on a Manhattan street early Monday morning were potential witnesses in two separate murder cases, and were likely targeted hits.
Police say Terrance Serrano, 22, and Rashawn Washington, 26, were found shot execution style around 4 a.m. inside the parked vehicle at East 19th Street between Park Avenue and Broadway.
They were last seen leaving a nearby nightclub.
Police Commissioner Ray Kelly says the department was looking to talk to them about two separate murder cases from last year in Coney Island.
Investigators are now reviewing video, which shows two suspects walking to and from the car and then taking off before the shooting.
Witnesses at the scene tell NY1 they heard five shots ring out.
"I distinctly heard two and then a pause and then a continuation, then I heard about 10 seconds later a car pulling out with the wheel's screeching," said one witness.
No arrests have been made.
Anyone with information about the case is being asked to contact Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-577-TIPS, by texting TIP577 to CRIMES, or by going to NYPDCrimeStoppers.com.
