A day after Carl Paladino got into a shouting match with a reporter and raised questions about Andrew Cuomo’s personal life, the Republican candidate for Governor is not backing down.

When Carl Paladino launched his campaign for governor, he called himself "mad as hell," and the Republican nominee seems to have lived up to that label over the past 24 hours.

On Wednesday night, Paladino engaged in heated argument with New York Post State Editor Fred Dicker, and the incident was captured on cell phone video.

It all started after the Post sent a reporter to track down the daughter Paladino fathered out of wedlock.

Paladino said the Post crossed a line.

"I’m just Joe Citizen. I’m just your everyday guy and I reacted as any father would react," said Paladino. "I was upset with Mr. Dicker. He’s a senior editor at the New York Post, and he sent his attack dogs over to my daughter’s home. They were taking picture in the window, they were taking picture of their mail."

Post Editor-in-Chief Col Allan fired back in a statement, saying, "Paladino spokesman Michael Caputo’s claim about our photographer is untrue. We can only assume Mr. Caputo is confusing our photographer with someone else. Mr. Caputo should check his facts before making charges against Post personnel. In addition, Mr. Paladino should not be surprised by the media’s interest in his families, as he has invited public scrutiny of his personal life by running for governor and speaking openly about his mistress and love child."

In the moments leading up to the argument, Dicker was trying to ask Paladino about claims the candidate made earlier in the day to the Politico website.

Speaking with NY1 Thursday, Paladino backed away from those allegations, saying he only wanted Cuomo’s personal life to be under the same level of scrutiny as his own.

The Republican candidate also told Dicker that he was going to, quote, take him out, so NY1's Elizabeth Kaledin asked him how New Yorkers should interpret those threats.

“I said I’m going to take out the trash, I’m going to take out the government, I'm going to take out Sheldon Silver, likewise Mr. Dicker, and anyone else in the press who think they can come out and 'bird dog' for Mr. Cuomo,” said Paladino.

While Cuomo's campaign is declining to comment on Paladino's personal life, they have begun airing a new attack ad that says the Buffalo businessman is hardly a squeaky clean outsider.

In an exclusive interview with NY1 Thursday, the state's former first lady, Matilda Cuomo, sounded off about the tone of the campaign and ongoing mudslinging.

Meanwhile, some are asking if Andrew Cuomo is being helpful enough to fellow Democrats.

NY1 has learned that the leader of the State Senate met behind closed doors with Cuomo this week.

Other Democrats want the state Attorney General to boost his campaigning, as polls show they could lose their control over the State Senate after just two years.

Cuomo, along with senate Democrats, declined to comment.
