Several brands of milk are being recalled amid concerns the milk was not properly pasteurized.

Inspectors with the New York State Department of Agriculture say faulty equipment at a Midland Farms plant in Menands, New York, just outside of Albany, is to blame.

The company agreed to voluntarily recall the milk.

Produced under the names Midland Farms, Corrado's Market, Jersey Dairy Farms and Trade Fair Premium, the milk was sold in five states -- including New York -- and may be found in stores in all five boroughs.

Unpasteurized milk runs the risk of contamination with things like listeria and salmonella.

So far there have been no reports of illness.

In a statement, a Midland Farms spokesperson says the company is "confident in the safety of our product and will continue to provide the Northeast with the highest quality of dairy products, upholding our reputation as one of the top five dairy farms in the state."

The recalled milk is labeled with plant code 36-1661 and a sell date of September 24. It should be returned to the store.
