A Brooklyn landlord is facing murder charges, accused of gunning down a tenant with whom she had a long-running dispute.
Jacqueline Wesley-Rosa, 49, was arrested late last night on second-degree murder and weapons charges.
Investigators say she shot and killed Patricia Wilson, 55, outside Wilson's Linwood Street apartment in East New York. Police discovered Wilson's body after receiving a 911 call just after midnight Wednesday.
Wilson was found shot once in the chest, collapsed on the sidewalk. She was pronounced dead at Brookdale Hospital.
Residents of the quiet tree-lined street where Wilson and Wesley-Rosa lived paid tribute today at a makeshift shrine where "Ms. Pat" was gunned down. She was known by neighbors as the mayor of the block.
"Not only the mayor the block, but the neighborhood," said local resident Tony McQueen. "Because like everybody knew her. You couldn't do anything out of line here without her checking your kid, checking you. That's the kind of person she was."
Neighbors also say that Wilson and the landlord fought often over trash pick-up or the rent. Wilson's cousin-in-law, Cye Skinner, says the bad-blood between the victim and her accused killer was well-known.
"They had a feud going on," Skinner said.
"Always arguing, always arguing. Next day they'd be talking, though," added McQueen.
Local resident Sweetie James says Wilson often gave small tokens of friendship to her neighbors around Lindwood Street.
"She gave me these rings," said James.
James says Wilson, who leaves behind a daughter and grandson, had dropped off a baby shower gift to another neighbor across the street moments before she was shot.
"She had a lot to do with the community, and anybody that wasn't really known, she knew them," James said. "She was a very nice person."
Police sources say Wesley-Rosa had five prior arrests – including at least one for menacing.
She faces 25 years to life behind bars if convicted of the murder.
