With the primaries set for next Tuesday, NY1 is hosting a series of debates between the candidates.

Tuesday night, the five Democrats hoping to become the state attorney general get their turn.

Westchester Assemblyman Richard Brodsky, former federal prosecutor Sean Coffey, former state insurance superintendent Eric Dinallo, Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice and Manhattan State Senator Eric Schneiderman will square off at the Times Center in Midtown.

Some of the Democratic candidates marched in the West Indian Day parade Monday to drum up some last-minute support.

“It seems that I don't know. It looks around 90 percent of the voters have no opinion, no preference right now, and I think it's a great opportunity for someone with substance,” said Dinallo. “I was in the office. I'm the only candidate who was in the office. I did work there for the State Insurance Department. So I feel that people are going to start to turn to editorial support, which I have, and to qualifications, and that's what's going to win in the AG's office in a wide-open race.”

“I'm taking my message of equal justice, equal and independent progressive justice, all over the state,” said Schneiderman. “People all over the state have the same worries. They're worried about the economy, worried about making sure government works for them. They're worried about a justice system that's not serving them. That's my campaign here. That's my campaign in Buffalo. That's my campaign in Watertown, and I think it's working really well. I'm very excited about the last week of the campaign.”

NY1’s Pat Kiernan will be moderating the 90-minute debate. The telecast starts at 7 o'clock.
