A judge says the case could be dropped against the former hot dog eating champion arrested on July 4th for disrupting the annual Coney Island competition.

The judge said today that Japanese competitive eater Takeru Kobayashi will be cleared of charges as long as he stays out of trouble for six months.

The six-time champion was arrested for crashing the stage at the annual Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest on Coney Island. He was not competing in the event because of a contract dispute that would restrict him from entering other eating contests.

Kobayashi claims he was waved up onstage after spectators began chanting for him to compete.

Kobayashi had been facing a host of charges – including trespassing, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.
