A police officer involved in the shooting death of Sean Bell is reportedly suing Bell's estate.

According to the New York Post, Officer Michael Carey is claiming Bell injured him while driving drunk in his car away from Club Kalua in Queens, the night Bell was fatally shot.

Carey's lawyer tells the Post his client suffered a serious leg injury before he opened fire at Bell and his friends outside the club.

Carey was not charged in Bell's death, but he is a defendant in a civil suit filed by Bell's family.

The three detectives who were charged were all acquitted.
