Investigators said a deadly fire in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn that killed one person and injured another on Friday was intentionally set.

Two fires in two separate areas broke out at around 9:35 a.m. in a third-floor apartment at 20th Avenue and 70th Street.

The resident of the apartment was killed.

The fire was brought under control about an hour later.

"We believe one of our units was on the block, responding to another alarm, and they saw the smoke and they called it in from what we call a verbal and got our units on the scene," said FDNY Deputy Chief Roger Sakowich.

A young woman was also injured and taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
