Authorities Conduct Counterterrorism Training At Amtrak Stations

Federal, state, and local rail and transit law enforcement will be out in force today for a counterterrorism training exercise.
The Department of Homeland Security says authorities are being deployed at Amtrak stations on the Northeast Corridor from New England to Virginia during the morning and evening commutes. They'll be conducting a drill on incident response capabilities.
DHS says it's part of Operation RAIL SAFE, which involves increased station and train security, random bag inspections and canine sweeps to detect explosives.
The exercise is not in response to any particular threat.
