Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Junot Diaz was elected to the Pulitzer Prize Board, Columbia University announced Friday.

Diaz, who teaches creative writing at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 2008 for his first novel, "The Brief Wondrous Life Of Oscar Wao."

Many of Diaz's writings concern Dominican-American communities in the tri-state area and have appeared in publications like The New Yorker.
