A Harlem charter school is under investigation after a report claims students were punched, thrown to the floor, and dragged by the hair.
Behavior management specialists at the Opportunity Charter School are accused of disciplining unruly kids with force.
The Special Commissioner of Investigation for city schools has interviewed at least 29 people so far. They include school administrators, staff, parents and teachers.
At least half a dozen reports from the 2007-2008 school year have surfaced. They include one student being punched in the stomach for not doing class work, another being pulled by the hair and dragged out of a classroom, and another student being placed in a headlock.
School administrators say they have investigated the claims and have implemented new oversight policies.
Department of Education officials said the school has been extremely responsive.
