Family members are being asked to help the September 11th Memorial and Museum honor those who lost their lives in the terror attacks.

Museum officials say they are sending letters to nearly 3,200 family members, inviting them to make audio recordings and share photos and other memories.

The materials are then set to become part of a permanent exhibit at the memorial, recalling a detailed history of each of the victims' lives. The display will also remember those who died in the February 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

The museum plans to have visitors enter along a corridor with a "Wall of Faces," showing portrait photos of the nearly 3,000 victims.

CONTRIBUTE PHOTOS, TEXT AND MEMENTOS

Photos, written remembrances and commemorative text can be submitted through a special section on the Memorial & Museum website, newmuseumme.national911memorial.org. Contributors to the website will be able to create unique profiles to upload images, other digital files and text that can be continually accessed by the contributor and will become part of the museum’s permanent collection. This material can also be submitted by mail.

In addition, the public can share images and text about their loved ones through VOICES of September 11th’s “9/11 Living Memorial” project, an interactive, digitized, and searchable database designed to commemorate individual lives and stories, that will be a central component of the Museum’s archive. The Memorial & Museum has established an official collaborative partnership with leading family advocacy group VOICES of September 11th to support the “9/11 Living Memorial.”
