A week after a parole officer was shot in Brooklyn, security is being beefed up.
Metal detectors are being installed at three city parole offices as part of a pilot program.
If successful, all parole offices in the state will be equipped with the security measures.
Convicted murderer Robert Morales, 50, managed to sneak in a gun into his parole office last week. Police say he fired a single shot, hitting 49-year old Samuel Salters in the shoulder.
Morales pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and is being held without bail.
The security measures come after a sweeping review of parole office security ordered by Governor David Paterson after the shooting.
