Police were investigating Friday a string of burglaries at preschools in Prospect-Lefferts Garden, Brooklyn.
Lefferts Garden Montessori, David Foster Preschool Academy and Little Stars Daycare, where are all located within blocks of each other, all had computers and other electronics stolen.
Lefferts Garden Montessori was broken into twice in two days, and the thieves left with a strange addition to their loot.
"The fish tank, okay? Which was right over here, and we're talking about a fish tank, a 10-gallon, with fish with plants and a light and it's gone," said Lefferts Garden Montessori head teacher Winifred Wellington. "I mean, it's the first thing you see when you come in, so that was very surprising."
The thieves also took phones, books and a microwave.
Some community members said the burglars have no respect for education.
"This is really horrible. This preschool has been in this neighborhood, they have been nothing but great neighbors to us. They've been a great asset to the community"
"I want the cops to get the bad guys and beat them up and just get them and put them in jail," said five-year-old Christine Stephen.
The director of Lefferts Garden Montessori suspects the thieves entered through the roof.
The school has since installed an alarm system.
