The family of police shooting victim Sean Bell and their supporters began the process of a civil suit against the city in a Brooklyn federal court Wednesday.

Attorneys for the Bell family say they want the three city police officers acquitted in the case to testify, which did not happen in the criminal trial.

Three officers involved in the November 2006 shooting death of Bell outside a Queens strip club were acquitted in 2008 on multiple charges.

Bell's family said they are determined to keep fighting until someone is held responsible for their son's death.

"Ain't no justice whatsoever, but of course, these last few years have been hell," said William Bell, Sean's father. "It will still be hell but at least it might be a little easier."

The judge has ordered all parties back in court on May 6.
