Whether you're looking to get lost in "Wonderland" or just have the urge to rock out, two of the latest video game releases are sure to please. NY1's Adam Balkin filed the following report.Designed to be just as colorful, and bizarre as the movie, "Alice in
Wonderland" the video game is based on the just-released Tim Burton film, based of course on the Lewis Carroll classic book.
In it, you get to play as a whole bunch of the crazy characters from the story -- from the Mad Hatter to the White Rabbit to the Cheshire Cat. Each has their own unique tricks that help them protect Alice and solve the puzzles thrown down as hurdles on her way to battle Jabberwocky. The one thing you have to remember when traversing this world and solving those puzzles is that the rules of physics and logic that rule our planet often times have no place down the rabbit hole where you'll be able to do things like manipulate time and alter perception. The storyline of the game is based loosely on Carroll's storyline.
If you'd like to get lost in this fantastical world yourself, "Alice in Wonderland" the video game is out now on the Wii, PC and DS for between $20 and $40.
Speaking of weird worlds, "Fret Nice" has a neat artistic look as well, kinda like an entire game made out of cardboard cutouts. What
makes this musical side scroller different is you can use a guitar peripheral, from "Guitar Hero" or "Rock Band" as your controller or you can use a standard game controller. Basically, you are this rocker guy running through strange places wielding your guitar as your weapon. As bad guys pop out to attack you, you have to hit different chords to defeat them. Each cord creates eyes, ears or some other facial feature so if you can quickly strum out a face that looks like that of your enemy, you win. True rock fans in particular may appreciate the rock tracks that play as you do.
"Fret Nice" is out now as a download for the Playstation 3 and XBox 360 for $15.
