The owner of a crane company will be charged with manslaughter in connection with an Upper East Side crane collapse that killed two workers in May 2008, according to an Associated Press source.

James Lomma, the owner of New York Crane & Equipment Corporation, is expected to face charges as early as next week, according to the AP source.

Donald Leo, 30, and Ramadan Kurtaj, 37, seen right, died when the top part of 200-feet-tall crane fell and crashed into an apartment building on 91st Street and First Avenue.

City and federal investigators have focused on a failed weld on the crane's turntable, which helps the rig swivel and change direction.

Lawsuits filed by the dead workers' families say New York Crane hired a Chinese company to do the weld, despite a warning from the company that its welding was not good.

The lawyers for New York Crane and Lomma and the Manhattan district attorney's office have not yet commented on the case.
