Cablevision subscribers could miss out on the Oscars this weekend due to a dispute with ABC’s parent company.

The Walt Disney Company is threatening to pull its Channel 7 programming off cable at 12:01 Sunday morning – amid a disagreement over fees.

Walt Disney is fighting over money that Cablevision collects each month from subscribers for the basic channels. Disney wants more money for the right to carry the programming.

In a previous contract with Cablevision, Disney was paid for cable channels such as ESPN and Disney Channel, but gave its WABC broadcast signal away for free.

In a statement, Cablevision said, "It is not fair to force Cablevision customers to pay a new TV tax for programming ABC Disney gives away free... It is shameful that ABC Disney would hold viewers hostage by threatening to pull the plug.”
