An alleged police assault victim defended his credibility during a rally at the Reverend Al Sharpton's National Action Network headquarters in Harlem Saturday.

The Reverend Sharpton kicked off the event with a passionate speech asking his audience to support Michael Mineo, who has accused three police officers of assaulting and sodomizing him with a baton in a Brooklyn subway station in 2008.

The trial of the officers is underway, with the defense attempting to paint Mineo as a liar and a scam artist.

Mineo said he was victimized.

"I didn't ask for this. I didn't ask for this. I don't -- but, you know, then they want to question my credibility to see if I'm telling the truth. The evidence speaks for itself," said Mineo.

Police Officer Richard Kerns is charged with aggravated sexual abuse and assault and could face up to 25 years in prison.

The other two officers, Alex Cruz and Andrew Morales, are accused of reckless endangerment and hindering prosecution and both face four years in prison if convicted.

Mineo has also filed a multimillion-dollar civil lawsuit.
