Governor David Paterson's teenage son was brought in for police questioning Tuesday after allegedly taking part in a craps game near his high school on Manhattan's Upper West Side.

Sources say Alex Paterson, 15, was taken to the 20th Precinct station house because he had no identification on him.

They also say there were questions about items in his possession, possibly including a missing or stolen bank card.

Alex Paterson and a friend were given juvenile reports for loitering.

He was eventually released from the police station and taken away in a black SUV.

Paterson currently attends public school in the city.

In a released statement, a Paterson spokesperson said, "Earlier today, Governor Paterson's son was taken into the 20th Precinct and subsequently released to his parents. The Governor and the First Lady ask that their privacy is respected during this personal time."

The governor was at an event in Buffalo when the police questioning took place.
