A police officer has been suspended, after a prisoner escaped from custody on Staten Island.
Officials say the 17-year veteran of the force was in charge when Naquan Thompson was being put into a police van at the 120th Precinct in St. George on Wednesday. Thompson managed to slip out of his handcuffs and led police on a wild chase.
Thompson was nabbed about 10 minutes later, when he fell and broke his ankle while trying to hop on a train at the ferry terminal.
The unnamed officer will be off the job for 30 days.
