Convicted financial swindler Bernard Madoff remains at a prison medical facility for a seventh day after being transferred there from a North Carolina federal prison, a prison spokesperson said Thursday.

A Federal Bureau of Prisons spokeswoman says Madoff is being treated for dizziness and hypertension.

He was taken to the medical facility on Friday.

The spokeswoman says the disgraced financier was not assaulted, despite published reports claiming that Madoff suffered a collapsed lung and facial fractures – injuries consistent with assault.

Prison officials in August denied a report that Madoff was suffering from cancer.

Madoff has been imprisoned since March after pleading guilty to fraud charges and admitting to cheating thousands of investors out of billions of dollars in a Ponzi scheme.

He is serving a 150-year sentence.
